RO: Conceptul expoziției “Model Under Construction” se conturează în jurul cuvântului grecesc filotimo, care poate fi tradus ca „prieten de onoare”, dar interpretat drept un grup de trăsături definite ca gesturi de generozitate care caracterizează o persoană. Statutul de filotimo este atribuit de către o altă persoană și există doar prin ochii observatorului. În perioadele dificile, observăm oameni dispuși să ajute din empatie. Pentru această expoziție dorim să interpretăm principiile din jurul termenului filotimo și să vedem cum sunt aplicate în viața de zi cu zi și cum altruismul, în sensul său utopic, este interpretat de către indivizi. Încercăm să analizăm modul în care micro-acțiunile noastre slab percepute îi afectează pe ceilalți și cum putem înțelege aceste relații. Cum oglindește un moment dificil din istorie atitudinea unui individ în viața unei persoane necunoscute? Este important să reflectăm asupra modului în care un simplu moment poate schimba percepția asupra semnificației ospitalității și cum putem crea o rețea de interdependență într-o comunitate întemeiată pe interacțiuni sociale de bază. Pentru acest proiect ne uităm la micile acțiuni care au construit un “model behavior” și care stabilesc un sistem colectiv general.

EN: The concept of the exhibition Model Under Construction is built around the Greek word filotimo, which can be translated as “friend of honor”, but much widely interpreted in a cluster of virtues yet fundamentally defined as the random acts of kindness that define oneself. The status of filotimo is attributed by another person and it exists only through the eyes of the observer. During difficult times we notice people willing to help out of empathy. For this exhibition we want to interpret the principles of filotimo and see how they are applied to everyday life and how selflessness, in the utopian sense, is achieved by individuals. We are trying to analyze how our hardly perceived micro actions affect others and how we can embrace these relations. How does a challenging moment in history reveal the attitude of one individual in the life of a stranger? It is important to reflect on how a simple moment can shift our perception on the meaning of hospitality and how one can create a network of interdependency in a community based on basic social interactions. For this project we are looking at the small actions that built a “model behavior” that established a collective system.
